Shear Terror by Chantal Boudreau

Today, we're featuring Chantal Boudreau, author of zombie short fiction.  This week, we'll look at her novella, Shear Terror.  Zombie Sheep!

Summary - Carla is invited on a late spring outing to the Islands to help shear sheep with her friends Mandy and Sheryl. She expects a day of excitement and exertion, chasing down the animals to bring them in for their clipping. She is not expecting, however, to be shocked by gruesome shark tales along the way, or by the terrifying circumstances that they encounter once they make land.

Chantal on the writing of Shear Terror - I like to incorporate real-life experiences into my writing. As a girl, I got to experience travelling to the Tusket Islands to help shear the sheep there and I found the idea of being trapped on those isolated islands very frightening. But I decided something could be even worse...being trapped on those islands with zombies.

About Chantal: Aside from being a long-time fan of the zombie genre via books, movies and now TV, Chantal Boudreau began her existence as a published author with a zombie short story named "Palliative" in an anthology called "Vampires, Zombies and Ghosts - Oh My!" published by Notreebooks.

This was followed by the publication of several other zombie shorts: "Just Another Day", "Waking the Dead", "Escarg-0", and "Life and Undeath on the Chain Gang"  in the May December Publications' anthologies "First Time Dead, Volume 1", "Hell Hath No Fury" (all women writers), "Zero", and "Zombie Lockdown" as well as "What a Man's Gotta Do" in the anthology "Undead Tales" from Rymfire Books and "Deadline" in the anthology "Zombie Buffet" from Open Casket Press.

She also has a stand-alone zombie digital novelette: "Shear Terror." She has done extensive research for her blog series "Chantelly's Field Guide to Zombies" and a non-fiction article on Zomedy - the dark humour in zombie fiction.  She is currently shopping a full zombie novel, Sleep Escapes Us, set in ancient Thrace and involving the myths surrounding the death god, Zalmoxis.
