Fiction: The Dark Side of Christmas

Not for the faint of heart... Santa is NOT himself!

Santa Rage II anthology

I have a story in the new anthology, Santa Rage II, now up for pre-order! ***BUY It Here at Misti Media Books - Bonus! Order the paperback, you get free shipping!

In my story, "Nick's Secrets," things are out of control at the Claus household when Mrs. Claus finds the body of a dead elf in the closet. Nick also has been acting strangely and, it turns out, he has plenty of dark secrets...

The anthology serves up twelve tales of Yuletide violence, dark humor, and righteous mayhem.

Expect blood on the sleigh, bullets in the chimney, and justice served cold as a December wind. Twelve stories that lean into the darker possibilities of the season — what happens when Santa knows everything about everyone, when the pressure of a single global deadline cracks the mind of the man who carries it, when elves wake up angry and reindeer bite back. Some tales deliver violent escapism. Others deliver karma with a bow on top. All of them turn the sugar-coated Christmas myth on its head.

Includes stories by Ron Clyburn, Tom Haftmann, Michael Ferreter, John M. Floyd, Geoff Holder, Christine Verstraete, Pat Remick, John T. Aquino, April Kelly, Beverle Graves Myers, Madison Blackwell and a sequel story from editor Kevin R. Tipple

How About a Creepy Foray into... Crawl Space?

Some monsters never leave the neighborhood. They just wait.

Fellow writing group member Warren Langlois's first novel, Crawl Space, is now out! And with a description like that... wow!  (Ooh, I love b/w covers!) ** Subscribe to his Substack page here.

* Buy Crawl Space at Publisher site. - Buy: Amazon

About the book:

In 1963, a wandering drifter is dragged screaming into the earth behind a quiet Wisconsin house. A year later, nine-year-old Henry Adams narrowly escapes the same fate — and watches in horror as a neighborhood bully is devoured by whatever lives beneath Old Lady Appleton’s overgrown backyard. The Big Boys call them crocodiles. Henry knows better. And he spends the next fifty years running from what he saw.

Now, in 2012, Henry — known to the world as bestselling novelist Luther Adams — has come home. His parents are dead. The old house on Dekoven Avenue is his to empty, his to sell, his to finally leave behind. But the crawl space beneath the family kitchen is exactly where it’s always been. The field out back is still hungry. And something down there remembers him...

About the author:

Born and raised in Southeastern Wisconsin, Warren Langlois has had a love for books since he was a child. He grew up reading the Oz books, fairy tales, and anything creepy he could find. Warren’s short fiction has been published in Every Day Fiction, Liquid Imagination, and The Absent Willow Review. He is a member of a critique group that nitpicks with love and makes his stories better, and also writes with Procrastinators Anonymous in beautiful downtown Racine. Crawl Space is his first published novel and he is working hard on his next.
